We are a team of highly skilled professional staff who are part of the Academic Division and are responsible for delivering an outstanding student and staff experience through high quality, effective service delivery to all of the University’s internal and external customers.
Our specific focus is on the student experience felt by our students here at the University of Otago. We work to provide accurate and timely information, assistance and advice across activities such as University admission; programme admission; scholarship administration; course advice, assessment, academic record maintenance, academic progression (including prizes and awards) and graduation.

The role of Auto-scheduling Implementation Administrator exists to support the Timetables team in a programme of work which is being undertaken to change the way it timetables classes, with an aim of reducing timetable clashes, improving the student experience, and making better use of resources.
You will prepare, create and manage database records, make recommendations regarding categorisation of data, document relevant processes, and act as a key point of contact for both academic and professional staff, as well as other stakeholders.
More detail on tasks and responsibilities can be found within the job description, but key tasks include:
- Compile and review information provided by departments on their timetabling needs.
- Create database records to prepare the timetabling system for auto-scheduling.
- Work closely with academic, technical and professional staff to ensure effective implementation of the new system.
- Make recommendations regarding configuration and categorisation of data, and provide feedback and information to optimise the implementation process.

We are looking for candidates who have:
- Exposure to work in a busy administration environment.
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good judgement, critical thinking skills and a passion for problem solving,
- An ongoing commitment to exceptional service and positive outcomes for our students and staff.
- Ability to work independently but also collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong Microsoft office and PC skills.
Further Details/ Pūroko
We have fixed-term roles available running through until 23 December 2026, based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. Part-time and full-time roles are available – please state in your application whether you have a preference for part-time or full-time work.
The appointment range for these roles are $69,931 to $74,609, Top of Range $80,285 (for a part-time position, the salary range for this role will be the pro-rata equivalent of the annual full-time salary range listed).
