Job Summary
Teach courses that train students in hands-on automotive repair, diagnostics, and shop safety- the same skills and standards used in today’s professional service centers. Specific teaching assignments will include your evaluation of and feedback to the students related to their learning and ability to complete repairs safely. Classroom instruction and activities will follow current ASE and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Automotive and/or Diesel repair or a closely related field, plus a minimum of four years of full-time experience in Automotive and/or Diesel repair. Or, 7 years of documented industry experience.
Experience must include diagnostics and repairs in suspension, steering, brakes, drive train, electrical/electronic systems, and hydraulic systems. Also requires ASE certification in drive train, automotive engines, suspension and steering, brakes, and electrical/electronic systems, or the ability to complete certifications within the first year of employment.
*Must have a valid Oregon driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
High-Voltage vehicle systems knowledge preferred, including Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles. ASE Master Certification in Automotive.
Salary
The 2025-26 starting salary range for this position is $68,031 – $78,068 for a 168-day schedule. Salary will be prorated for remaining days in the contract.

Essential Duties
- Teach automotive technology classes.
- Maintain office hours.
- Establish and maintain working liaison with local and regional automotive repair industry.
- Participate in student recruitment and advising.
- Maintain shop space and equipment.
- Stay current with emerging transportation technology trends.
- Ensure safety of students and security of the Advanced Transportation & Technology Center.
- Perform other professional duties as needed.
- Model the employability skills that industry partners expect from LBCC graduates.
