The tasks to be carried out aim to develop voltage balancing techniques for DC-DC converters with switched-capacitor topologies. Specifically, solutions will be proposed that focus on simplifying the voltage regulation system for the floating capacitors found in multilevel DC-DC converters.
Accordingly, a 3- and 4-level step-down converter based on the floating capacitor configuration will be implemented. The most important tasks to be carried out are: the design and validation of the power stage, the output voltage control and the voltage balancing system for the floating capacitors; the design and construction of the printed circuit boards (PCBs) comprising the converter’s power and control stages; and the commissioning of the prototype.
Carrying out these tasks involves the use of software tools for electronic simulation (PSIM, LTSpice, etc.), mathematical analysis (MATLAB), digital control (FPGAs, DSPs and microcontrollers) and PCB design (Altium, KiCAD, etc.).
