Behavioral Health Psychotherapist
Behavioral Health Counseling to adults, children and their families at The Ohio State University Total Health Care Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center with multiple sites. Core competencies include working with the integrated team to provide individual counseling, with a focus on substance use treatment and recovery support, as part of our mission to improve the mental and emotional well-being of the communities we serve.
Includes psychosocial assessments, mental health counseling, Substance Use Dependence counseling, distress screening, and crisis intervention.
Participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences and team meetings; serves as consultant to other professionals on the healthcare team; participates in staff meetings, in-services, continuing education programs, research activities, CQI and performance improvement activities; teaches and mentors health professional students, regardless of discipline, on theory and practice of care delivery by an inter-professional team; serves as preceptor for Community Health Worker and Social Work students. Possesses strong organizational and communication and is committed to community-based care.
Must meet mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions. Demonstrates knowledge of the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and co-occurring disorders.
Minimum Education Required: Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
Minimum Years of Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year experience in individual therapy and substance use treatment. 2-4 years preferred. Experience with Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, or similar approaches preferred.
Required Qualifications: Current LSW or LISW license in the State of Ohio, LISW preferred.
