Background of the recruitment and description of the project
Epsom College Tokyo is a new British international preparatory school scheduled to open in central Tokyo in Autumn 2027. The school will initially welcome pupils from EYFS to Year 4 and will expand progressively to Year 6.
The school forms part of the wider EDUC8 Group together with Epsom College UK and Epsom College Malaysia, delivering a British curriculum within an international educational environment.
As part of the founding phase of the school, we are recruiting bilingual Teaching Assistants to support pupils across EYFS and Primary phases and contribute to the establishment and development of a new international school community in Japan.
Work content and job description
The successful candidates will join the founding team of Epsom College Tokyo and support the establishment and operation of a new British international preparatory school in central Tokyo.
Bilingual Teaching Assistants will work closely with classroom teachers to support pupils’ learning, language development, and wellbeing across EYFS and Primary phases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting children’s learning, language development, and emotional wellbeing in the classroom
- Assisting pupils who are transitioning into English-medium education
- Facilitating communication between the school and Japanese-speaking families
- Providing translation and interpretation support as required
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment
- Supporting classroom activities, school events, and the wider life of the school
- Contributing positively to the culture and community of Epsom College Tokyo
Candidates must be fluent in both English and Japanese and be committed to supporting children in an international educational environment.
