The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the American University of Beirut (AUB) Faculty of Medicine (FM) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible faculty position in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The appointment rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The Department seeks an investigator with expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology, and the analysis and integration of complex biomedical datasets. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, genomics, transcriptomics, computational genetics, systems biology, multi-omics data integration, and computational approaches to human health and disease.
The successful candidate is expected to develop or maintain an independent and externally funded research program; contribute to graduate and other relevant teaching; supervise and mentor MS and PhD students; and establish interdisciplinary collaborations within the Department and across the Faculty of Medicine and University. The position is expected to strengthen computational capabilities supporting research in genetics and genomics, general metabolism and -omics, and other related areas in molecular biology.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree with appropriate postdoctoral training in bioinformatics. Prior academic experience and an established record of research productivity, external funding, teaching, and graduate student supervision and mentorship are desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to develop or maintain an independent research program and contribute effectively to the Department's teaching, research, and service missions.
Applicants should submit:
- A curriculum vitae.
- A letter of intent explaining why the applicant wishes to apply for the position and how their background and experience align with its requirements.
- A personal statement outlining the applicant's previous accomplishments in research, teaching, and service, together with their future plans in these areas.
- The names and contact information of four referees, preferably at the rank of Professor.
Applications should be submitted electronically to Dr. Fuad Ziyadeh, Interim Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, at fz05@aub.edu.lb, with a copy to the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, at aub-fm@aub.edu.lb.
Deadline: November 30, 2026
