Position Title: Biology Instructor (Non-tenure track)
Department: Biological Sciences
Reports To: RCAS Dean
Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)
Start Date: August 2025
Position Summary:
The Dominican University Department of Biological Sciences seeks applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track instructor beginning in fall 2025 to teach undergraduate courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Introductory General Biology, and Introductory Human Biology. The standard teaching load for an instructor position is the equivalent of 24 credits (lecture and labs) per year. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the University's Core Curriculum and uphold the mission and values of the University.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Introductory General Biology, and Introductory Human Biology.
- Availability for weekend and/or evening courses/labs.
- Advising undergraduate students within the department.
- Participation in University or College Committees.
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. degree in Biology or a related field with teaching experience.
- A commitment to working with first-generation, immigrant, and/or underrepresented/historically excluded students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology pre-nursing curriculum.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
- FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
- SALARY: $60,000 - $61,950 annually
