The Children’s Intensive Care Research Program (ChIRP), within the Child Health Research Centre, is seeking a purpose-driven Biostatistician to contribute to paediatric intensive care research. Working alongside internationally-recognised multidisciplinary clinicians and researchers, you will play a pivotal role in shaping evidence that improves long-term outcomes for children facing critical illness, including those recovering from paediatric heart surgery and sepsis.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver advanced statistical analyses and modelling to support high-impact clinical and health research projects
- Collaborate closely with clinicians and researchers to design studies, interpret findings, and communicate insights clearly
- Contribute to research outputs, including publications, grant applications, and technical reports
- Maintain high standards of data management, documentation, and compliance with ethics and governance requirements
About You
You are a curious and collaborative quantitative professional who thrives in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment. You bring both technical excellence and a desire to partner with researchers to drive meaningful outcomes.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in statistics or a closely related quantitative discipline with subsequent relevant research experience
- Demonstrated experience applying statistical methods in clinical or health-related research settings
- Proficiency in statistical software such as R or STATA
- Strong ability to translate complex statistical concepts into clear, practical insights for clinicians and researchers
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, ideally in research or clinical environments
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong written communication skills, including preparation of reports, manuscripts, and documentation
- Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality research practices
