Position: Bookstore General Buyer
Department: Finance & Administrative Services
Type of Position: Part-time Regular
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs, 25 hours per week
Opportunity for hybrid schedule: No
Starting Salary Range: $18.22-$23.31 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.
Position Summary: Under direct supervision of Course Materials Supervisor coordinate the timely submission of adoption forms, perform specialized purchasing of applicable course materials and ancillary items for specifically assigned areas. Maintain existing inventory in assigned areas, using system reports to aid in purchasing and cyclical inventory preparation.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 years customer service experience
- Ability to work effectively with diverse campus community
- Successful candidate must be a dependable, organized, detail-oriented team member with the ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Position details include but are not limited to:
- Engagement with course materials stakeholders: regularly meet with faculty, maintain contact with publishers and vendors regarding pricing and availability of product, serve as customer service liaison in person, by phone and by email.
- Attend training and conferences to keep up to date on industry.
- Responsible for timeliness of adoptions for assigned areas following master adoption schedule and places orders for receiving on a timely basis each term.
- Obtain course materials and merchandise through multiple sources including online purchasing for price competitiveness.
- Inventory management of assigned areas, using system reports.
- Research and determine appropriate selection, inventory, quantity, and pricing for assigned areas.
- Use historical data to ensure adequate purchasing in areas without over or under buying.
- Maintain buyback estimates for assigned areas.
- Maintain general understanding of DayOne Access procedures to provide faculty and student support as needed.
