Broodbank Fellow (Fixed Term)

The Managers of the Broodbank Fund invite applications for a fellowship to be held in any Department in the School of the Biological Sciences at the University of Cambridge from 1 October 2026 or otherwise by negotiation. The Research Fellow is required to carry out research in biochemistry or biophysics, with special reference to the principles and practice of food preservation. These terms will be interpreted broadly to include fundamental research including molecular processes.

The fellow must have a PhD in a Biological Sciences subject. Candidates should provide evidence of outstanding academic excellence, a high quality and original research proposal and evidence of their capabilities as an independent researcher.

The research will be based at a laboratory within the University of Cambridge. Applicants must identify and obtain consent of an appropriate host. The successful candidate can apply for an annual research expenses budget of up to £12,000.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance. Applications looking for part time work are welcome. The duration of funding will be extended to take account of part time working.
