About the Project
Project description: This PhD proposal aims to investigate the further development and application of Building Information Modelling.
BIM as a data and graphical enabler continues to pervade and enhance design, construction, operation, decommission and reuse of buildings and infrastructure. Buildings and Infrastructure can be considered at multiple levels, the elemental level, the subcomponent level, the component level, the subassembly level, the assembly level, the system level, in terms of holistic buildings and infrastructure and as agents and actors within larger environmental systems. Determined by standards and standard forms of operation the format and form of BIM its application and data manifestations continues to evolve. For project teams, organizations and the building industry to effectively adopt BIM best practice from academia and case studies needs to be disseminated. This research aims to provide a resource of options and insights to assist in the fuller utilization of BIM capabilities. Capabilities may be contained within on discipline or domain or be cross discipline or cross domain, application can be activity, project or portfolio related.
