Building Services Supervisor - Physical Plant
Job Description
The University of Texas Permian Basin's Physical Plant welcomes applications for the position of Building Services Supervisor.
Salary Range
$44,301.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Building Services Supervisor plays an essential role in the Physical Plant department, overseeing the daily operations of the Setups team to ensure efficient support for campus events, furniture moves, and office relocations. This position is responsible for supervising staff, assigning and reviewing work orders, and coordinating schedules to provide reliable, high-quality service across campus. Working closely with the Events Management office, departmental supervisors, and other university partners, the supervisor ensures event setups and departmental moves are completed smoothly and on time, while also managing surplus items through the university auction process. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional with leadership skills, strong organizational ability, and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Supervise event setup staff
- Reviews and assign work orders to personnel
- Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service
- Coordinates with other department supervisors on work projects
- Coordinates with Events Management office on all event setups
- Coordinate with other departments for any office furniture moves or office relocations
- Oversee university auction, items posted to auction, and coordinates item pickup times
- Forklift large items from central receiving to designated drop off location
- Overtime may be required depending on event needs
Required Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
2. 5 years' experience related to the supervisor's duties or equivalent supervisory experience
3. Forklift certification
4. Possess organizational skills and able to communicate effectively
5. Possess a clean and valid Texas driver's license for at least three (3) years
6. Ability to follow safety precautions. Job may entail moderate exposure to chemical, environmental, and various other hazards that require strict adherence to procedures
Preferred Qualifications
1. 10 years' experience related to the supervisor's duties or equivalent supervisory experience
2. Combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
3. Able to read, write, and comprehend English as well as perform basic mathematical computations

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
