About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Services Technician to join our Estates team. This hands-on role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and improvement of our departmental facilities. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across our buildings and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults in heating, ventilation, cooling systems, and other departmental plant and equipment.
- Monitor and respond to issues identified via the Building Management System (BMS), liaising with Estates and the Building Services Manager as needed.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer and Estates guidelines.
- Undertake minor refurbishments and improvements to rooms, including layout changes and installation of fixtures and fittings.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including fire alarm system testing and safety documentation.
- Support with refurbishment projects across various areas of the site.
- Perform minor building works such as pipework alterations, leak repairs, and alterations to building fabric i.e. painting & decorating.
- Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and routine electrical inspections, recording outcomes and performing necessary repairs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant, current, and demonstrable experience in a similar role or level.
- A-level standard of education, NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with both traditional and modern maintenance techniques.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated understanding of principles, processes, and concepts related to Building Services.
