Building Utilities Mechanic
Job Description: The Building Utilities Mechanic position is responsible for the maintenance and emergency repair of the heating systems, maintaining and repairing the buildings, grounds, and equipment at Hennepin Technical College to ensure the smooth operation of the property.
Salary Range: $29.93 - $34.52 / hourly; $62,493 - $72,077 / annually
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current 1st Class C boiler license
- Knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in trades work sufficient to assist skilled trades' staff in the completion of assigned projects.
- Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to complete minor trades plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Skills in using hand and power tools and other trades equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
- Ability to provide work direction to unskilled helpers.
- Sufficient mobility (such as climb, stoop, bend, crawl, twist etc.) and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualification:
- Refrigeration license
- Forklift truck license
- Knowledge of plumbing codes
- Organizational and human relations skills
- Communication skills
