Why your role matters

The Business Analyst provides critical data and business analysis and project coordination to support UNSW’s transition to the flex-semester teaching model for 2028. Reporting to the Program Manager, the role defines business requirements and identifies data-informed insights to improve institutional outcomes and drive student readiness.

As part of a lean project team, this position collaborates across all Divisions and Faculties to communicate progress and risks while ensuring solutions deliver long-term value. By leveraging routine and ad hoc analysis, the role also informs stakeholder engagement strategies to facilitate a seamless transition for the university community.

About the Role

You will be required to undertake and have experience in the following areas of expertise:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Academic Calendar Program and its institutional interdependencies to ensure all activities align with the 2028 transition.
  • Source and analyze UNSW data using Excel and Power BI to produce dashboards, reproducible data pipelines, and insights that support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate project tracking and implementation documentation, ensuring all records are up to date and aligned with program standards.
  • Create high-quality project deliverables, including data-driven reports, presentations, and communication materials for diverse stakeholders.
  • Establish protocols and procedures that facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across all UNSW Divisions and Faculties.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions within a fast-paced, deadline-driven project environment.

About You

  • Relevant degree and extensive Business Analyst experience, with a strong preference for candidates from a higher education background.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate complex data and design robust process improvements.
  • Proven track record in developing ad hoc reports and reproducible data pipelines from multiple sources using various reporting tools.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality briefings and documentation for stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to institutional values, including health, safety, and psychosocial well-being within a complex project setting.
