About the role

The Statutory Reporting Specialist is responsible for statutory and compliance reporting of institutional data to the Government and agencies; requirement analysis and preparation of complex reports for internal and external stakeholders; the provision of business analysis to both the BIA team and other areas of the University and policy advice to senior staff.

The incumbent will be required to undertake data operations and services, design data processes, develop technical documentation, and undertake advanced programming tasks. This role is furthermore responsible for implementing the reporting requirements relating to the Tertiary Collection of Student Information (TCSI) system encompassing (but not limited to) student, scholarships, HELP loans, staff and financial data.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Analytical expertise: Undergraduate or qualifications with extensive experience and management expertise in data analysis.
  • Technical proficiency: Programming skills in SQL and Python, with demonstrated experience in BI solutions and data visualization. High proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Power Pivot, Power Query, and the Microsoft BI stack.
  • Statutory reporting and data quality: Familiarity with data validation and data quality processes, including preparing data for reporting to government departments or regulatory agencies, and working in agile reporting and analytics teams collaborating across functions.
  • Communication excellence: Demonstrated excellent communication; interpersonal, and liaison skills; and the ability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Agility and initiative: Capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality. You exercise sound judgement, work autonomously or collaboratively, stay current with industry trends, and champion continuous improvement.
