Business Development Manager (Sustainable Technologies and the Environment)
About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is seeking a Business Development Manager (Sustainable Technologies and the Environment) to lead and expand strategic industry partnerships, accelerating research translation and industry engagement across the Sustainable Technologies and the Environment portfolio. This role supports the University's high priority Collective Excellence 28 (CE28) initiative.
Based within the Research Pipeline and Pre Award team, this senior role focuses on translating world class research capability into funded, impact driven collaborations across energy, climate, sustainability and environmental sectors. Working closely with researchers, Faculty leaders and external partners, you will play a key role in advancing industry led research outcomes aligned to the University's strategic plan.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
- drive industry engagement to identify, develop and secure collaborative research and funding opportunities aligned to CE28 priorities
- work closely with researchers and senior stakeholders to translate research capability into impact driven collaboration
- prioritise and manage industry and researcher requests, delivering high quality strategic business development support
- act as a key liaison, guiding stakeholders through collaborative research strategies and partnership pathways
- case manage complex engagements from opportunity identification through to delivery
- prepare engagement reports, briefings and materials demonstrating research capability and impact
- contribute to the development of engagement strategies within sustainability focused disciplines.
About you
- significant experience (typically 5-10 years) in business development, research commercialisation or industry engagement within a university, research or innovation environment
- a Postgraduate Degree in Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent senior industry experience
- strong, existing industry connections, particularly across sustainability, energy, climate or environmental sectors
- demonstrated success securing R&D funding and managing complex, multi stakeholder engagements
- high level negotiation, influencing and relationship management capability
- confidence to operate independently in a senior role while contributing within a collaborative team
- willingness to travel as required to support stakeholder engagement and partnership activity.
3-year, fixed term opportunity. Located on the Camperdown Campus

Base Salary $146,197 - $154,260 (HEO9) + 17% superannuation
