Are you a strategic technology leader who thrives at the intersection of business and digital innovation? Do you excel at building trusted partnerships, shaping demand, and translating organisational strategy into practical, high-impact technology outcomes?

We are seeking an IT Business Partner (Business Engagement Lead) to act as the primary interface between Digital Technology Services (DTS) and key stakeholder portfolios across the University.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Engagement, this role is pivotal to DTS’s transformation into a technology integrator, broker, trusted advisor and innovator. You will work closely with senior leaders and business units to proactively identify, shape and prioritise demand, ensuring technology initiatives align with both business objectives and the DTS Strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the trusted technology partner for an assigned stakeholder portfolio
  • Provide strategic and tactical advice on digital opportunities, risks and priorities
  • Identify, shape and prioritise technology demand aligned to business and DTS strategy
  • Lead early discovery, business case development and high-level planning
  • Manage demand through governance, setting clear expectations on scope and delivery
  • Partner with DTS leaders to deliver integrated, standardised and innovative solutions
  • Represent DTS on University-wide projects, committees and executive forums
  • Ensure compliance with DTS standards, policies and cyber security requirements

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 8 Higher Education Worker level and is based at Callaghan

  • Proven experience in IT business partnering, digital engagement or demand management
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex needs into actionable solutions
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
  • Experience working in complex organisations with multiple priorities and governance structures
  • A passion for enabling better outcomes through technology
