The Career Development Center is an 11-person team providing comprehensive career services for students who are in demand for the healthcare and life science education and skill sets.
The Career Advisor provides individual, small-group, and large-group career coaching and educational programming online and in-person to graduate students and recent graduates in year-round, fast-paced professional healthcare programs. Responsible for engaging with students and playing a pivotal role in promoting student success throughout their academic program.
Position is based on the Worcester campus, with travel to Manchester, NH campus four to five times per semester for specific programming and events. This is an in-person position with some schedule flexibility for our online services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Advising (60%):
- Provide online and in-person career workshops to graduate students and recent graduates in fast-paced, year-round clinical healthcare programs.
- Educate and advise students on resumes, cover letters, interviews, networking, and employment strategies to support professional goals.
- Review resumes, cover letters and practice interviews required by faculty as course assignments to prepare students for their job search.
- Help students connect experiences in and out of the classroom with their career aspirations.
- Maintain working knowledge of assigned employment markets through employer and alumni interviews and industry resources; monitor and report employment trends and changes to Career Development Center and relevant academic programs.
- Recommend and implement information exchange to support student referrals between academic programs and Career Development Center.
- Identify best practices and industry trends for enhancing higher education career development.
- Pursue professional development relevant to student achievement and success.
- Present educational workshops on career topics in classroom, student organization, panelist, and guest speaker formats.
Collaboration and Communications (25%):
- Create and facilitate in-class workshops in partnership with faculty to meet professional development and learning outcomes for graduate students. In-class presentations are conducted online and in-person.
- Establish methods and opportunities for regular communication and information exchange through collaborative relationships with faculty and staff in assigned academic programs.
- Collaborate with the staff on all campuses to develop communication strategy to maximize messaging, branding, and visibility.
- Assist with the enhancement and ongoing maintenance of instructional materials for the Career Development website, Blackboard site, Career Link CRM system, and Student Success Hub.
Other (15%):
- Serve as Career Development Center liaison for committees and programs with other University departments.
- Participate in annual University events (Orientation, Open Houses, Resource Fairs, academic ceremonies, alumni programs) as needed.
- Participate in retreats and professional development.
- Work to meet annual goals based on assessments and evaluations of previous services and events, and student requests.
- Contribute to the department’s data collection efforts following policies and protocols, and to the preparation of departmental and university reports.
- Support Deans/faculty with recruitment of alumni as campus guests and mentors.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, education, or related discipline, or comparable credential in workforce development or human resources.
- Minimum of two (2) years direct client service in career exploration and/or employment preparation.
- Proven success with group presentations on topics related to career success, employment preparation, professional branding, or job search strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow procedures and protocols established by supervisor.
- High-level proficiency with MS Office suite, online searching, and contact management systems.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to other MCPHS campuses.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, education, or related discipline.
- Experience providing direct student support in career advising/coaching in higher education.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between offices and floors of buildings
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure
- Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours and to work some evenings and weekends
- Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction)
- Ability to lift up to 5-10 lbs
Compensation
The pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.
Hiring Range: $56,600 to $62,900
