Job Summary
Provides individual and group career advising to students, covering topics such as connecting majors to careers, exploring industries and career paths, reviewing resumes, conducting mock interviews, and negotiating salaries. Collaborates with faculty and staff to oversee the Internship and Co-op (experiential education) program within assigned colleges. Partners with the Employer Relations team in Career Planning and Development to establish industry connections, support student programming, and enhance recruitment efforts. Organizes campus-wide workshops and networking events.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists students with resume and cover letter writing, interview tips, job or internship search strategies, salary negotiation, career exploration, and more
- Partners with campus partners to better serve the career-related needs of students who may be undeclared or in focus areas rather than declared majors
- Creates specific programmatic offerings for students in order to assist them in generating career goals and their relation to a major
- Develops a deep understanding and competency of career exploration resources
- Works to promote the importance of internship and cooperative education programs to their students, while maintaining a liaison relationship with faculty and administrators regarding the processing of and registration for for-credit internships and co-ops
- Performs classroom, campus, and orientation presentations to students at the request of faculty or departmental staff
- Participates in office events including but not limited to Job and Internship Fairs, networking events, and more
- Works collaboratively with faculty and administrators in assigned college(s) to develop and offer career development content at appropriate timing
- May serve as an instructor of record for non-credit bearing internship, cooperative education, and/or career-focused courses
- May provide educational sessions related to career readiness
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Two (2) years related or transferable experience (can include graduate assistantships in a master's program)
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with career services platforms (e.g., Handshake), applicant tracking systems, and career assessment tools to support student career development
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Higher Education Administration, Human Resources, or related field
Preferred Experience
Experience building relationships with employers, recruiters, and industry professionals to create internship, co-op, and job opportunities for students
Proposed Salary
The budgeted salary range for this role is $45,900-$53,000 annually. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Strong ability to guide students in career planning, resume writing, interview preparation, and salary negotiation while effectively collaborating with faculty, staff, and employers
Strong ability in coordinating career programs, workshops, and networking events, ensuring smooth execution and student engagement
Able to establish and maintain partnerships with employers, faculty, and staff to enhance career opportunities and recruitment efforts
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Understands career advising principles, job search strategies, employer recruiting practices, and experiential learning programs (internships/co-ops)
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficiency in career services platforms (e.g., Handshake), Microsoft Office Suite, and data tracking to assess program effectiveness and student outcomes
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
