them as they enter the Michigan Works! Service Center. The expectation of this position is to deliver exceptional customer service while assessing the job seekers' needs and providing information about available resources. The Career Navigator must be knowledgeable in all Michigan Works! programs and services, and will be responsible for recruitment and program referrals. Additionally, the Career Navigator must be familiar with community resources and community partners located within the Michigan Works! Service Centers. The Career Navigator works in a team-oriented environment to assess individual needs, provide responsive guidance, and conduct a soft handoff to Employment Service Advisors for further support. This role will be assigned to work from a Michigan Works! Service Center in Bay, Midland or Saginaw County. This is a grant funded position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING : Orient job seekers to the Michigan Works! system, the programs, services, and opportunities available while familiarizing the job seeker with the facility itself. Build rapport with job seekers to identify employment barriers and tailor service delivery to their individual needs. Understand the scope of all Michigan Works! and partner agency programs to effectively assist job seekers in utilizing services. Actively recruit and refer job seekers who may benefit from Michigan Works! program services, including but not limited to: career coaching, training services, workshops, Academic Center, staff assisted core services, and job fairs. Assess needs for assistance such as rehabilitation, financial aid, adult education, post-secondary education, additional vocational training, and make appropriate referrals to community partner agencies, Veteran Services, supportive services, and appropriate SOM agencies. Provide information on all services available through the one-stop delivery system. Assist job seekers with creating/accessing accounts and posting their resume on the State of Michigan's ( SOM ) designated labor exchange system. Assist job seekers in developing suitable job search documents using appropriate formats and software tools. Assist in developing displays and exhibits highlighting career and employment opportunities. Ensure that confidential information relating to the agency, staff, and customer is used appropriately and always kept confidential. Maintain compliance with unemployment requirements; verify job seeker identity and enter data in a timely manner. Provide meaningful assistance navigating the unemployment website. Provide preliminary recommendations regarding unemployment training waivers in accordance with eligibility guidelines. Refer employer inquiries to the appropriate Business Services Representative and support the Business Services Team with employer hiring and informational events. Maintain up to date knowledge on the ES complaint system, assist job seekers with resources and follow up, and submit related reports as required. Deliver reemployment services and eligibility assessments to improve employment outcomes for unemployment claimants in compliance with state policy and unemployment requirements. Enter and maintain job seeker information, program referrals, activities, and case notes in the Management Information System ( MIS ) within established timelines to support compliance and performance reporting. Provide labor market information for the Great Lakes Bay Region and assist with career exploration activities. Demonstrate exceptional customer service and oral communication skills by interacting positively with job seekers, conveying information clearly and concisely, and ensuring a productive and satisfying experience. Coordinate with ES Manager for services such as interpreters/translators and the provision of services related to H-2A and H-2B. Maintain updated knowledge of the Federal Bonding Program and assist in completing the process to obtain a bond. Assist multiple job seekers throughout the day while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and timely follow-through. Assist job seekers with printing, faxing, and copying job search and unemployment related materials. Participate in agency events as needed. Implement and/or support special programs and initiatives. Comply with all sections of the Employment Services Manual, regulations, and updates. Engage in staff development opportunities provided through written materials, seminars, conferences, in-services, etc. as assigned. Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree. Special consideration given to those with direct experience in the Career Navigator position with Michigan Works!
