Key Responsibilities
- Dishwashing & Sanitization
- Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and utensils.
- Operate commercial dishwashing machinery and use proper chemical solutions safely.
- Sort, stack, and properly store clean items in designated areas.
- Facilities Maintenance
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors and related work environments.
- Clean, scrub, and sanitize kitchen and serving equipment according to prescribed standards.
- Wash down prep tables, walls, and food storage areas.
- Waste Management
- Empty waste baskets, trash cans, boxes, and recycling containers.
- Replace trash liners.
- Maintain clean and odor-free trash receptacles.
- Kitchen & Food Support
- Assis t the culinary team in maintaining food inventories and tracking supplies. Provide occasional support with basic food preparation tasks under direction. Help unload and stock incoming food and equipment deliveries.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical stat us. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person h as an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
- Casual knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, and methods is necessary.
- Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.
- Frequent lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with cleaning materials, flexible work schedules, and willingness to learn food service methods and procedures.
