Job Description:

• Casual position at Kitchen Attendant Grade 1 Load Rate $37.63 per hour
• 17% Superannuation contributions
• Based at our Customs House, Brisbane CBD

About This Opportunity

UQ Customs House is seeking a reliable and motivated Casual Kitchenhand to join our culinary team in a premium hospitality environment.

This role supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety and organisation, while assisting chefs with preparation tasks. Customs House delivers corporate events, functions and hospitality services, so professionalism, teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining cleanliness of food preparation and kitchen areas
• Cleaning equipment, appliances, benchtops, floors, ovens and ranges
• Washing dishes, pots and utensils in accordance with food safety standards
• Receiving, handling and storing deliveries
• Retrieving food items as requested by the chef team
• Assisting with basic food preparation tasks

About You

• Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment
• Sound understanding of safe food handling and hygiene practices
• Completion of an accredited Hygiene for Food Handlers course is desirable
• Strong commitment to cleanliness and workplace safety
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
• Flexible availability including evenings and weekends

The successful candidate may be required to complete pre-employment checks including right to work in Australia and a criminal history check.
