Chair and Dean, School of Engineering

The Dean will be an academic of high standing, who has experience of academic leadership in a senior role, and a clear vision for the future of the School. You will represent the School internationally and nationally, create opportunities for cooperation within the University, and take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the School with the full support of the Heads of Departments and Head of Operations. The School benefits from a diversity of academic disciplines, and you will take the lead in building mutual respect and dialogue between these disciplines towards deriving the maximum benefit from this diversity.

Reporting to the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Head of Faculty for Science and Engineering, you will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the School’s business, including the development and implementation of the School’s Research and Learning and Teaching Strategies, and staffing with budgets devolved to School level. You are responsible for delivering on the School’s budget and to plan for a financially sustainable future for the School.
