"Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences"

The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences with experience commensurate with the rank of Professor, Tenured. This is a unique opportunity to provide vision and leadership at a major research-intensive university with faculty who are nationally and internationally recognized for innovative research and teaching in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and its many disciplines.

The Pharmaceutical Sciences (PSC) Department advances basic, translational, and clinical research across the spectrum of drug discovery and development. The department consists of 34 faculty members (https://www.pharmacy.umaryland.edu/about/depts/psc/faculty). The department has about 60 PhD students in its Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate program.

This position is a full-time, tenured, 12-month appointment based at the Baltimore, Maryland Campus. Responsibilities include providing oversight and support for the department's didactic curriculum and research initiatives, including course development, mentoring, assessment, and faculty research engagement.

Academic Responsibilities: Continue innovative, independent externally funded research programs, teach in graduate and professional programs, mentor students and fellows, develop partnerships, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Chair Responsibilities: Oversee faculty, staff, students, and research activities; ensure compliance and safety; manage departmental operations, budget, recruitment, and development; conduct annual reviews; and perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline; appropriate faculty experience; record of significant collaborative extramural funding; experience in teaching preferred.

Salary Range: Base Salary and Administrative Supplement $150,000 - $250,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience for a Full Professor, with potential incentive compensation up to 22% of annual institutional base salary.
