Chaire de recherche du Canada de niveau 2 sur l’inclusion dans l’éducation de la petite enfance
L’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) is seeking candidates in the fields of education sciences, psychoeducation, speech therapy, physical activity sciences, psychology, or related disciplines for a Level 2 Canada Research Chair on inclusion in early childhood education. This chair is specifically aligned with the scientific programming of the Research Group on Inclusive Early Intervention (GRIPI). GRIPI members conduct research to develop, experiment, and evaluate original solutions to address the challenges of inclusive early intervention for children, their families, and their environments. They contribute to: 1) developing, promoting, and supporting inclusive educational practices by identifying necessary conditions, implementing, and evaluating supports in environments; 2) developing and evaluating practices to support children, their families, and their living environments; and 3) developing and/or validating assessment tools to document the needs of children and their families. This work is carried out in close collaboration with partners in the field of inclusion for young children, providing concrete solutions to challenges and problems encountered in practice settings.
This chair also directly aligns with the 4th orientation of UQTR’s 2020-2026 Strategic Research Plan, namely Inclusive Society and Health. This orientation groups the work of several UQTR researchers interested in human development at various life stages and in different environments. Their work actively contributes to advancing knowledge and improving the quality of programs, procedures, measurement instruments, interventions, and treatments for those with special needs. Research specifically focused on the inclusion of children with disabilities or from ethnic diversity, particularly in childcare settings, is an international expertise area at UQTR, as evidenced by the work of the UNESCO Chair: Early Childhood and Inclusive Early Intervention.
This tenure-track position is aimed at individuals recognized by their peers for their potential to become exceptional researchers. UQTR is seeking individuals with an excellent record of scientific achievements and the potential to obtain competitive funding in the humanities and social sciences. The selected person will lead an independent and innovative research program on inclusion in early childhood, in collaboration with the GRIPI team and the UNESCO Chair: Early Childhood and Inclusive Early Intervention. They will also participate in teaching and training students at the undergraduate and graduate levels on this theme.
Requirements: The selected person will be appointed to a regular professor position at UQTR if awarded a Canada Research Chair. Candidates must hold a relevant PhD. UQTR is a French-language institution, so the selected person must have sufficient knowledge of French or be committed to learning it upon appointment. UQTR offers support for French language learning. Teaching experience is an asset.
Documents Required: Candidates are invited to submit their application by 5:00 PM on October 16, 2025. The dossier must include: a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae, a brief description of the research program (maximum three pages), examples or copies of significant contributions in a relevant field, and the names of three experts willing to provide a letter of support. Candidates may also include details on any circumstances that caused a slowdown or interruption in their research activities. All required documents must be submitted as a single PDF using the online voluntary declaration form at: https://oraprdnt.uqtr.uquebec.ca/portail/gscw031?owa_no_site=4558
Salary: Salary is determined according to the UQTR professors’ collective agreement, and holders of a Canada Research Chair may receive an annual premium of up to 20% of their salary.
