Chair/Program Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Misericordia University, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair/Program Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, offering an exciting opportunity for a visionary and energetic leader to shape the future of a well-established and growing program. This role calls for an innovative, adaptable educator who is committed to advancing the Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs, which include both a B.S. Full-Time Program and a Certificate, while fostering a respectful, challenging, and student-centered learning environment. The successful candidate will play a central role in promoting the program within the university and throughout the region, while leading key efforts in strategic recruitment and retention, accreditation oversight, faculty development, and curriculum innovation, all in alignment with Misericordia’s mission-driven commitment to service, academic excellence, and the holistic development of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic recruitment and retention of students
- Oversight of program accreditation (CAAHEP)
- Teaching and learning outcome assessment
- Budget management
- Faculty hiring and scheduling
- Teaching load of 6 credits per semester
- Fostering a student-centered culture of support and belonging
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree (preferably in Education); graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography Program or ARDMS-certified in multiple specialties
- Certifications: RDMS (Abdominal and OB/GYN), RVT or RVS
- Experience: Minimum 2 years full-time clinical experience; administrative and teaching experience in sonography; documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and educational theory
- Professional Development: Active ARDMS and CCI certification (if applicable); ongoing CME participation; engagement in internal faculty development; active membership in at least one national professional society
