Child and Adolescent, Consult/Liaison Psychiatrist - Open Rank
The UNC Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Child Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric consultation to children admitted to our inpatient pediatric and surgical units at UNC Children's Hospital. UNC Children's Hospital has 150 inpatient beds and approximately 6,500 admissions per year. They will serve in a 'liaison' capacity, as a resource for physicians, nurses and other professionals; providing guidance around difficult aspects of care. They will also initiate Bridging Appointment Clinic for pediatric patients to help with the acute shortage of child psychiatrists in North Carolina. Children are most vulnerable to relapse during the first month after discharge and often have to wait longer than 4 weeks to see a child psychiatrist. This new bridging clinic will address a critical need, fill a gap and prevent recidivism. The bridging clinic will serve the pediatric psychiatry inpatient consult liaison population, inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry inpatient unit and adolescent eating disorder unit. They will also supervise multidisciplinary trainees on the CL Service. This is a full-time position, but the department will consider candidates 0.75 FTE to 1.0 FTE. The rank will be based on the qualifications of the applicants
