Classical Studies, Instructor (One-year, Temporary), Non-Tenure Track
The Department of Classical Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Temporary Full-Time Instructor beginning Fall 2025. Classical Studies has seven full-time faculty members and two part-time faculty members supporting undergraduate degrees in Classical Civilization, Greek, and Latin, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program. We welcome candidates with strong teaching profiles in Classical Studies, including history and literature of the Classical period in translation, as well as elementary Latin.
This position involves teaching four courses a semester covering classical literature in translation, Roman civilization, and elementary Latin.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience: The candidate will have a PhD in Classics, Ancient History, or a related discipline at the time of appointment. Candidates for the position must demonstrate clear potential for excellence in teaching and student mentorship. The candidate must be willing to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago and the goals of a Jesuit, Catholic education.
Salary Range: $56,500-$63,500
