Job Description
Griffith Health Clinics are a multi-disciplinary primary health care service within Griffith University. The Clinics features 113 chairs, which continues to expand, in addition to Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Psychology Clinics. The operation of the Clinics is underpinned by our inter-professional approach to research and teaching, supporting a model of evidence based clinical best practice.
As a Dental Orderly, you will be responsible for undertaking physically demanding tasks including manually transporting dental instruments to and from the sterilisation unit, repacking and stocking. The Dental Orderly will also, support with the day-to-day operational needs of the dental practice under direction of the Dental Clinic Manager. The Dental Orderly will be required to work across shifts during peak periods as needed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of sterile and contaminated Reusable Medical Devices (RMD’s) and manually distribute where needed within the clinic by adhering to current standards, principles of best practice in infection control, and workplace health and safety.
- Collect contaminated RMD’s from dental chairs/ bays and manually transport to the sterilisation unit for processing.
- Documenting the transfer of RMD’s to and from CSSD within the Instrument tracking System.
- Assist in transport and unloading of stocked items within the unit.
- Assist team members with manual handling activities in compliance with work, health and safety standards.
- Assist with environmental and equipment cleaning and maintenance functions as required.
About you
This position is suitable for an individual who has completed secondary education and currently holds a valid Queensland Blue Card
In addition to the above, you will demonstrate:
- Ability to undertake physically demanding tasks, including manual handling and transportation of dental instruments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, staff, and external parties effectively.
- High level of attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands effectively.

What we can offer
This is a continuing, full-time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 2 range $59,428 - $60,766 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $69,531 - $71,096 per annum.
