Description

The role of the Communications and Media Relations Specialist is part of the Marketing office. This role will be responsible for maintaining and updating our company website to ensure that it is functioning optimally, user-friendly, and up to date. Tasks include creating and implementing strategies to improve website traffic and search engine optimization (SEO) efforts, assisting managing website security and troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.

This role is also responsible to write, develop and coordinate the social media strategy/stories on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok. This role is responsible for developing and executing communication plans, maintaining brand identity, and working closely with the Director of Marketing to provide the best communication possible. Duties include design and creation of print pieces, digital ads, social media graphics, video production, managing of student workers and production for the marketing projects while maintaining timely communications with outside vendors and department freelance pool. Additionally, this role will assist with internal marketing needs, writing press releases, photography and working with vendors to keep inventories stocked.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing or Communications preferred)
  • Proven experience with website management, design and content creation
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude and proficiency, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with different departments and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated competency in developing and managing various social media platforms and website content
  • Organized, detail-oriented, precise, focused, and accurate
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills required
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Must work well independently and with others
  • Photography/Videography experience preferred, Graphic design experience a plus

Essential Functions:

  • Regularly update and maintain the company website, including content creating, design and functionality improvements. Collaborate with other departments to ensure website content is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop and execute a plan to increase website traffic and improve SEO efforts, including analyzing website data and making recommendations for improvement
  • Stay up to date with industry trends including website technology, email and social media to identify and incorporate opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
  • Ensure the website is accessible and user-friendly for all visitors, including those with disabilities
  • Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and content of admissions email and direct mail to all prospective students in all student markets
  • Process all outgoing mail to prospective students and keep a monthly inventory of mailing pieces for all programs
  • Develop and manage stories and posts on a variety of social media platforms
  • Develop, facilitate, and launch direct mail and email campaigns to all prospective students in all student markets
  • Work with admissions and marketing teams to coordinate online registration process for all prospective student events
  • Coordinate with other departments on campus to develop new and fresh marketing campaigns, to confirm all communications are consistent with our brand, and to ensure accurate information is communicated
  • Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications
  • Regularly review admissions website for content accuracy and timeliness, communicating with appropriate people/departments to make updates
  • Analyze the needs of our prospective students and develop communication to meet those needs
  • Responsible for the coordination of SU photographers, including recruiting, scheduling and supervising as necessary
  • Responsible for selecting and coordinating venue for University speakers, including choosing a catering option for each event as needed
  • Serves as the authorized purchaser for admissions and marketing sales promotion giveaways
