About the role

The Cleanroom Microfabrication Engineer position is based at the LCN, a UK-based multidisciplinary research centre at the forefront of science and technology. Since its opening in 2006, the LCN has combined cutting-edge experimental research with advanced modelling, visualisation, and theory, supported by state-of-the-art cleanroom and nanofabrication facilities (https://lcn-cleanroom.com).

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Microfabrication Engineer with a background in a relevant discipline such as engineering, physics, chemistry, or materials science to support operations within the LCN Cleanroom.

About you

The successful candidate will become a key member of the Cleanroom Technical Team, working closely with the Cleanroom Manager to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the facility. This role involves providing technical support, training, and hands-on assistance to a diverse user base, primarily academic researchers, while also contributing to service work conducted for external industrial partners.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing cleanroom users with induction, training on fabrication processes and equipment, offering guidance, and troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
• Responsible for creating and optimising SOP for equipment.
• Assisting with the maintenance and day-to-day operation of cleanroom equipment and infrastructure.
• Collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality service projects for internal and external clients.
