Clinic Assistant at the University Clinic for Horses
Job Summary
Work in a dynamic environment at the University Clinic for Horses, supporting patient care, education, and research as an essential team member alongside animal caretakers, veterinarians, and students to provide the best possible care for patients.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians in various clinical procedures and treatments of hospitalized horses.
- Contribute to the education of future veterinarians.
- Perform light administrative tasks.
- Communicate with horse owners.
- Participate in a 24/7 irregular shift schedule.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experienced, graduated, and registered paraveterinary with a background in horses.
- Able to proactively and independently nurse patients and support veterinarians.
- Extensive experience handling horses, physically strong, and resilient.
- Willing to perform animal care tasks such as feeding patients, cleaning stables, and maintaining the clinic.
- Possess or willing to obtain an article 13f2 authorization under the Animal Experiments Act.
- Strong communication skills, flexible, stress-resistant, and a team player.
- Able to work irregular hours in a 24-hour roster, including nights and weekends.
- Think actively with veterinarians and adapt quickly to challenging situations.
- Experience in practical teaching is a plus.
What the Employer Offers
- A 12-month contract with possibility of extension.
- Full-time workweek of 32-40 hours with a gross monthly salary ranging from €2,872 to €3,454 (scale 6 of the Dutch Universities Collective Labour Agreement).
- Irregular hours allowance for working at unusual times.
- 8% holiday pay and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
