Position Summary
Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law seeks an outstanding lawyer-educator to direct and teach a clinic. The subject matter of the Clinic is open, but because of conditions on funding sources, the Clinic must include substantial individual representation of elder clients. The School of Law currently hosts an Interdisciplinary Mental & Physical Health Law Clinic that serves this function, among others, and would be happy for the new Director to continue it if that subject matter suits the preferred candidate's background and interests. The candidate shall indicate in their application materials the proposed subject matter for the Clinic. The Director will be a full-time continuing non-tenure track (governed by ABA Standard 405©) member of the faculty. We anticipate a start date of June 1, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach clinic classes focused on lawyering skills, professional development, and ethical practice, employing clinical teaching methods.
- Supervise all aspects of student practice, employing clinical teaching pedagogy in the Clinic, and serve as the attorney of record in Clinic cases when required by the rules of the relevant jurisdiction.
- Oversee all aspects of administration of the Clinic, including but not limited to conducting outreach to clients, selecting cases, reporting to funding sources, and maintaining files.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor degree is required.
- Pennsylvania bar membership (or an ability to waive into the Pennsylvania bar) is required.
- Excellent clinical teaching ability, including an ability to work collaboratively and independently and a demonstrated interest in and aptitude for student supervision and teaching, is required.
- Relevant legal practice experience is required. This may include time spent supervising students.
- Expertise in relevant substantive areas of law is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of relevant legal practice experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with low-income clients is strongly preferred.
- An understanding of, and commitment to, clinical teaching methodology is preferred.
- Prior clinical teaching experience is preferred.
