- Design, deliver, and evaluate simulation-based education,
including high-fidelity anesthesia scenarios, skills laboratories,
debriefing, and competency assessment.
- Provide direct clinical instruction and supervision of nurse
anesthesia students in affiliated clinical settings, consistent
with student level, patient acuity, case complexity, safety
requirements, and accreditation expectations.
- Evaluate student performance in didactic, simulation, and
clinical settings; provide timely formative and summative feedback;
document achievement of competencies and clinical requirements; and
contribute to remediation plans when needed.
- Serve as academic advisor and faculty mentor for nurse
anesthesia students and chair or serve on DNP scholarly project
committees as assigned.
- Maintain currency in nurse anesthesia clinical practice,
educational methods, simulation pedagogy, accreditation standards,
and certification requirements.
- Engage in clinical scholarship, evidence-based practice,
quality improvement, professional dissemination, and/or educational
innovation consistent with the clinical faculty role and assigned
workload.
- Participate in faculty governance, college and university
committees, professional service, recruitment, orientation, and
other responsibilities expected of full-time faculty.
Delegated Program Leadership and Administrative
Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Administrator/Concentration Coordinator in
administering the academic and clinical components of the Nurse
Anesthesia Program while maintaining an active faculty teaching
role.
- Lead or coordinate delegated aspects of curriculum
implementation, course coordination, simulation education, clinical
education, student assessment, and program evaluation.
- Support compliance with COA, CCNE, university, state, and
federal requirements, including preparation of accreditation
reports, self-study materials, site visits, and ongoing
documentation.
- Collaborate with clinical sites, preceptors, clinical
coordinators, and faculty to ensure appropriate placements,
supervision, case experiences, student safety, and a supportive
clinical learning environment.
- Monitor student achievement and clinical experiences;
communicate significant academic, clinical, progression, conduct,
or safety concerns to the Program Administrator/Concentration
Coordinator and participate in timely intervention and
remediation.
- Coordinate designated continuous quality improvement
activities, including collection, analysis, and reporting of
student outcomes, clinical data, stakeholder feedback, and other
evaluation measures.
- Participate in admissions, recruitment, orientation, faculty
onboarding, student success initiatives, and resource planning as
delegated.
- Provide recommendations regarding curriculum, simulation,
clinical sites, equipment, staffing, and other program
resources.
- Assume delegated program leadership responsibilities during the
Program Administrator/Concentration Coordinator’s absence while the
Program Administrator retains ultimate authority and
accountability.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Earned DNP or PhD from an accredited institution, conferred by
the time of appointment.
- Current, unrestricted registered nurse licensure in Tennessee
or eligibility for licensure through the Nurse Licensure Compact by
the time of appointment.
- Current certification/recertification as a Certified Registered
Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the National Board of
Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
(NBCRNA).
- At least three years of professional practice experience as a
CRNA, with professional accomplishments commensurate with the
proposed faculty rank.
- At least two years of teaching experience in a nurse anesthesia
or related graduate nursing program.
- Documented effectiveness in didactic, simulation, and/or
clinical teaching and in assessment of student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate nurse
anesthesia curriculum and clinical learning experiences.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, collaboration, and
organizational skills.
- Experience with COA accreditation, program evaluation, or
continuous quality improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in a nurse anesthesia or related graduate
nursing program.
- Experience designing and facilitating high-fidelity
simulation.
- Evidence of clinical scholarship, quality improvement,
professional dissemination, or educational innovation.
Salary range for this position $200,000 - $215,000
This position is open to those who qualify and can be
appointed as one of the following ranks in the College of Nursing.
Rank appointment is dependent on education and qualifications
relative to the university and college standards and will be
determined by academic leadership in accordance with faculty
handbook, policies, and procedures.
Clinical Assistant Professor: This rank is for those who
have completed a doctoral degree or terminal degree appropriate to
the field or who are licensed or certified to practice the
profession where appropriate. Individuals holding this rank have
shown promise for excellence in areas of responsibility recorded in

recorded in the hiring unit’s annual documentation of the NTT
faculty workload distribution and responsibilities.
