PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Online MA in Leading Educational Innovation and Transformation prepares educators, school leaders, and leaders of organizations with educational missions to explore, cultivate, and implement innovative ideas that can fundamentally shift the educational landscape, both in school and out-of-school settings. The program equips graduates to lead reform efforts, advance justice and equity, and design organizational and system-level transformations. Courses are developed specifically for online, asynchronous learning and are designed to meet the needs of working professionals across a range of education-related settings.

We seek a scholar-practitioner with:

  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational and school leadership, innovative leadership practices, PK-12 administration, and/or leadership for educational transformation.
  • A proven record of working collaboratively with teams on online course development, instructional design, and high-quality online teaching.
  • A deep commitment to building strong, supportive, and sustained relationships with online learners.
  • As a clinical faculty member, the successful candidate will contribute meaningfully to the mission and vision of the Marsal Family School of Education through teaching, program development, and engagement with professional practice.

The successful candidate will:

  • Clinical faculty teach 8 courses a year, 10% scholarship, and 10% service.
  • Teach core and elective courses in the Leading Educational Innovation and Transformation (eLEIT) program.
  • Collaborate with faculty and instructional design staff to develop, revise, and enhance high-quality online, asynchronous courses.
  • Support students' professional learning through mentorship, advising, and engagement in practice-based learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the eLEIT program, including program evaluation and curriculum innovation.
  • Participate in service to Marsal Family School of Education, including committee work and involvement in initiatives related to online learning, leadership development, and educational innovation.
  • Maintain engagement with the field of educational leadership through practice-based scholarship, professional development, partnerships, or applied research.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, Organizational Leadership, Educational Studies, or a related field (completed by start date).
  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses in educational leadership, innovation, organizational change, or administration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching and/or leading online teaching, online instructional design, and/or online course support.
  • Expertise in leadership for PK-12 schools or educational organizations, including innovative practices, systems change, or administrative certification.
  • Evidence of strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with instructional design teams and colleagues.
  • A developing program of scholarship of practice that includes scholarly activity related to educational leadership and/or online learning.
  • Commitment to university values, justice in teaching and professional engagement.

We plan to fill the position with a start date of August 2026. Salary will be negotiated on the basis of the candidate's experience and qualifications. The appointment will be a twelve-month appointment. Salaries at the University of Michigan compare favorably with those at other leading institutions of higher education.
