TITLE: Adult Medicine Pharmacotherapy, Oklahoma City campus, faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor (Full-time, limited term, non-tenure track)

FUNCTIONS: The individual in this position reports to the Chair, Department of Pharmacy: Clinical and Administrative Sciences and is expected to support the tripartite mission of teaching, service and research/scholarly activity. This position will support comprehensive adult medicine pharmacotherapy services in Oklahoma City. Applicants are expected to develop scholarship in the area of adult medicine or medicine subspecialties, participate in collaborative research, and to develop and provide didactic, laboratory, and experiential training and education to doctor of pharmacy students and pharmacy practice and specialty residents.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy
A valid and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in Oklahoma and an Oklahoma preceptor license.

PGY1 plus PGY2 residency in internal medicine or medicine subspecialty area, two-year pharmacotherapy residency, or equivalent clinical experience with significant exposure to adult medicine.

DISTINCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS: Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills; a strong working knowledge of pharmacy practice, as well as state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations; and the ability to interact with pharmacists and healthcare team members in acute care practice settings are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Board certification in respective practice area(s)
Experience in classroom teaching, small group discussions, and precepting doctor of pharmacy students.
Post-graduate degree(s) in applicable area

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

(40%) Clinical Pharmacy Services. Provide direct patient care and support to the inpatient internal medicine service at the assigned site(s). Collaborate with other care providers to assure optimal pharmacotherapy outcomes for patients receiving treatment at the assigned site(s). Provide education for patients and health care providers at the assigned site(s). Measure and document the impact of the service on the quality and cost of care to the patient at the assigned site(s).
(30%) Teaching. Provide experiential training for doctor of pharmacy students at all levels in the curriculum as assigned. Serve as a preceptor for ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency programs including learners in the postgraduate year one (PGY1) and postgraduate year two (PGY2) programs and support these programs through development and recruitment activities. Support the professional program through didactic lectures, active learning strategies, participation in laboratory skills-based training, and/or course coordination to students at all stages of the program as assigned.
(20%) Scholarship. Disseminate new knowledge through publication of peer-reviewed abstracts and manuscripts, leading to production of peer-reviewed publications. Collaborate in research and/or scholarly activity with other College of Pharmacy faculty and/or College of Medicine faculty and/or affiliated pharmacy staff.
(10%) University and College service. Serve on professional and/or academic committees in the college or community as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair. Participate in regional, national, or international professional pharmacy or other health care associations. Other service activity that supports the college mission, academic or research community.
