The Central Connecticut State University Department of Nursing prepares students to become compassionate, highly skilled nursing professionals through a strong foundation in clinical practice, evidence-based care, and holistic patient-centered approaches. Established in 1981, the department emphasizes academic excellence, professional development, and community engagement, with a focus on fostering critical thinking, social responsibility, and a global perspective in healthcare.
The program offers undergraduate and graduate pathways, including BSN and MSN degrees, and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Students benefit from hands-on clinical experiences with regional healthcare partners, advanced simulation technology, and supportive faculty mentorship, preparing graduates for licensure and leadership roles in diverse healthcare settings.
Position Profile
The Clinical Coordinator oversees the planning, coordination, and quality assurance of student clinical placements within the nursing program. This role serves as a key liaison between the academic institution and clinical agencies, ensuring that students are placed in appropriate learning environments that align with course objectives and program outcomes. This role is central to ensuring a seamless, compliant, and high-quality clinical education experience for nursing students.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students; demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow, adjust to changes in work assignments and work with others to complete required projects; demonstrated superior written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to relate and work collegially, constructively, and effectively with a variety of stakeholders, groups and individuals, as well as the ability to work independently.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Nursing or a related health field
Experience and Training:
- Two (2) years’ clinical experience as an RN.
- Connecticut State License as an RN.
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in nursing or a related health field
- Experience using the Castlebranch and Exxat clinical health and education management systems.
- Experience supporting student learning in healthcare settings.
- Experience coordinating clinical requirements
- Experience collaborating with academic and healthcare partners.
Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The Clinical Coordinator position is compensated at the Administrator III salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
