Department Summary

The Infusion and Day Treatment (IDT) Program at Boston Children's Hospital Program is a specialized outpatient procedural program with 2 service locations, Boston's Main Campus and the Waltham Satellite. This unique program provides services to patients from infancy through adulthood, offering an alternative to inpatient hospitalization and emergency department visits for individuals requiring complex infusion therapies and innovative medical day treatments. IDT leadership, our administrative and expert clinical teams, work in collaboration with each other across both locations emphasizing a safe, secure, and family-centered environment, fostering strong, ongoing relationships between patients, families, and a dedicated healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing and overseeing daily clinical and program operations including but not limited to, preparation/approval of staff schedules, requesting and allocating resources and facilitating coordination of care/services to meet patient care and operations requirements
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team to ensure quality patient care and a positive work environment.
  • Providing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance staff skills and career growth.
  • Creating an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team culture that promotes engagement, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Developing, recommending, and implementing internal standards, policies, and procedures to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care.
  • Selecting, supervising, and evaluating nursing and clinical support personnel to develop and provide staff education/development programs.
  • Leading and participating in hospital, departmental, and multidisciplinary programs, committees, and special projects.
  • Collaborating seamlessly across disciplines and service locations, working closely with each member of the team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field of expertise required.

Experience:

  • 4-5 years RN experience with leadership experience preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, team building and collaboration skills.
  • Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories, and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experienced-based knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to mediate fair solutions among direct reports and peers.
  • Strong technology skills.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • A Specialty Certification in Nursing preferred.
