Clinical Course Specialist-Carle Illinois College of Medicine
Job Summary
The Clinical Course Specialist position will support the coordination of Introduction to Clinical Practice under the supervision of the Clinical Course Coordinator, which is a combined course consisting of Clinical Integration and Physical Diagnosis for M1 and M2 medical students. Additionally, the Clinical Course Specialist assists in the coordination of the Career Boot Camp course for M4 students. This includes assisting in the coordination of academic, evaluative, and administrative activities to ensure the fulfillment of learning objectives and related competencies for both courses.
Duties and Responsibilities
Introduction to Clinical Practice Course Support:
- Collaborate with academic affairs leadership, college faculty, and other instructional staff to plan, coordinate, and support pre-clerkship instructional activities. This includes:
- Providing administrative and operational support.
- Securing facilities for instructional activities.
- Managing various instructional activity logistics.
- Prepare, upload, and maintain course materials within the college's learning management system (LMS), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Proctor progress OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations).
Career Boot Camp Support:
- Collaborate with the Course Director and college faculty to coordinate and support course activities. This includes:
- Providing administrative and operational support.
- Securing facilities for instructional activities.
- Managing various instructional activity logistics.
Curriculum Support:
- Work with academic affairs leadership and college faculty to prepare and maintain course materials on the online learning management system.
- Manage and maintain efficient record-keeping of all course documents on a cloud-based content management platform.
- Attend regular curricular meetings, faculty and/or staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
Other:

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months), from the categories below:
- College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- Progressively more responsible clerical or secretarial experience, including a background in electronic word processing and database management systems.
- College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
Please Note: Completion of the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education Programs Certification (TAGME) from the National Board for Certification of Training Administrators qualifies applicants for each level of this series.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4769 - Medical Education Program Specialist position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the start date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
