- Base salary will range from $102,565 - $111,686 (HEW Level 7) + 17% Superannuation
- Primarily based at our vibrant St Lucia campus
About This Opportunity
We are seeking two dynamic and experienced paediatric Occupational Therapists to join our world-leading School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences as Clinical Educators in our Occupational Therapy (OT) Life Skills Clinic. This is a student led clinic delivering onsite and community paediatric services to families, schools and communities in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity to serve our local community and support the clinical development and training of the next generation of occupational therapists.
To optimally cover both clinic operational needs and student learning needs, we are ideally looking for applicants with capacity to work Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday.
As a Clinical Educator, you will contribute to the professional education of undergraduate, graduate-entry and postgraduate Occupational Therapy students through the supervision of students in a range of environments including clinical, preclinical and practical settings.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Using recent professional practice with advanced knowledge, provide guidance, implement and monitor operational and clinical procedures related to Occupational Therapy (eg. Paediatric services) in relevant work areas, including telerehabilitation.
- Develop and implement appropriate student education processes and models of clinical supervision to support students’ learning as applicable for their existing knowledge and skills.
- Facilitate and supervise individual and groups of students performing profession specific or interprofessional clinical practice in diverse environments (University based clinic or external site e.g. school, hospital, community centre, industry).
- Guide, develop and deliver evidence informed therapy for patients in conjunction with students and clinical staff.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on student’s development of clinical skills and knowledge utilising profession specific tools and criteria e.g. SPEF.
- Contribute to the curriculum development and innovative teaching related to clinical education and training of the undergraduate and graduate-entry programs in conjunction with academic staff.
- Perform a range of administrative functions in the Clinics including liaising with University based clinical education liaison managers and/or course coordinators regarding student placement and assessments.
About You
- Qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate/graduate-entry degree in Occupational Therapy with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated recency of practice with advanced knowledge and the ability to deliver evidence based clinical practice in the area of paediatric Occupational Therapy in a broad range of clinical environments.
- Demonstrated abilities as an effective educator and communicator in Occupational Therapy clinical education such as student supervision, educational evaluation and assessment marking.
- Ability to develop and implement innovative methods of instruction to enhance clinical skills and knowledge development.
- Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote Occupational Therapy at an interprofessional, university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.
- Ability to work effectively with technology systems and master software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and with high levels of initiative and autonomy.
- High level inter-personal and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, multi-task and manage time effectively.
Please note, you must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
Successful candidates will also be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks including: mandatory immunisations, AHPRA registration, first aid and CPR certification and Blue Card, Medicare Provider Number and Driver’s Licence checks.
