The Department of Medicine is seeking a provider who is dedicated to delivering empathetic patient care, while playing a pivotal role in improving the overall patient experience through clinical informatics. We seek candidates who are energized by a complex patient population and working on a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team. They will also bring their wealth of knowledge to support the departmental informatics needs of support, innovation, EHR optimization, and end-user optimization. A successful candidate will be equal parts compassionate and comprehensive in their care, and enthusiastic to teach this approach to groups of dedicated and eager learners.

  • This position is full or part time, 50%-100%
  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
  • Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors: This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law every four years.
  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care at UW Health approved location(s). Individuals may also be called upon to fill clinical needs at UW Health Urgent Care Centers. They will also have a robust working knowledge of clinical informatics and the ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary teams for process improvement and implementation.
  • The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Compensation: Negotiable, 12 month. Required Qualifications:

  • Wisconsin Medical Licensure required by the start date.
  • Must be Board Eligible in Internal Medicine by the start date of position. Eligible certifications include American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of Clinical informatics fellowship or graduate coursework.
  • 2 years of experience as a clinical informaticist.
  • For an appointment at Associate Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate on the CHS Track.

Education: MD or DO, or equivalent required.
