"Clinical Nurse (Cardiology)"

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse to work in the Division of Cardiology at the GBMC outpatient location. This position supports cardiologists with outpatient clinical duties. The Clinical Nurse is accountable for the delivery of comprehensive care, in collaboration with the provider and other members of the health care team, to the client population through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This role helps foster an environment that optimizes client well-being and outcomes. The position also will assist with stress testing.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Review physician EPIC-in-baskets on a daily basis and triage appropriately.
• Pend new medications and prescription refills in Epic for physician signature.
• Assist with ordering patient lab and study tests and route orders in EPIC to physicians for their co-signature.
• Work with cardiology scheduling team to help schedule tests.
• Assist with the completion of prior authorizations.
• Follow up lab and study test results and notify the physician and patient as appropriate.
• Return patient phone calls and respond to appropriate Epic in-basket questions.
• Prepare physicians for outpatient clinic appointments including obtaining detailed medical records for patients with complex medical histories and ensuring records are scanned into Epic.
• Populate patient history in EPIC prior to appointments.
• Generate patient problem lists as requested by physicians.
• Maintain awareness of the inclusion/exclusion criteria for ongoing clinical trials and help identify possible research candidates.
• In some circumstances, the RN will also attend clinic with physicians, obtain/update history and interim concerns from patients, and help document patient clinic encounters in EPIC.
• Practice nursing per clinical protocols and under the nursing scope of practice for the State of Maryland.
• May perform case management services to patients from initial intake visit through termination of services.
• Assist in the development/updating of unit-based protocols, standardized care maps and/or care plans.
• Perform stress testing and stress echocardiograms on designated days at the GBMC location.

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland.
• CPR /BLS certification.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline.
• ACLS certification
