"Clinical Nurse II - Infusion Center - FT Days"

Reporting to the Cancer Center supervisor, the clinical nurse provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Cancer Center. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists in patient research accrual by varied projects and reviewing patient schedules against available protocols. Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse's new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.

Required Qualifications: One year of Oncology experience or one year of MedSurg experience and completion of OCN Cancer Basics class; Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties; Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job; Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience; Knowledge and practice of body mechanics; Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques; Current chemotherapy/biotherapy card required within 3 months of hire; Current California RN license; Current BLS certification; All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Ability to work effectively with colleagues, physicians and others as part of a care team; Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of JCAHO requirements; Oncology Certification; Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms; Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
