About This Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to take part in the cutting-edge MIRRA-funded INSPIRE Feasibility and Pilot Trial. The trial investigates the use of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) in combination with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of driving anxiety in individuals who have experienced motor vehicle crashes.

Your role in this trial will be delivering manualised CBT and VRET interventions, conduct screening and post-intervention assessments, and contribute to intervention co-design, data collection, and dissemination activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical service delivery: conducting candidate screening and diagnostic interviews, assisting with integrating VR technology into therapeutic practice, providing in person and telehealth therapy sessions, and monitoring participant progress.
  • Intervention development and co-design: co-design VRET scenarios and CBT manuals, developing exposure hierarchies and integration into VR environments, and ensuring interventions are evidence based and clinically appropriate for end-users.
  • Research and evaluation: managing trial data in accordance with ethical standards and contributing to feasibility and safety assessments of interventions.
  • Collaboration and engagement: working within a multidisciplinary research team, engaging with the Consumer Advisory Group, and liaising with external partners and healthcare providers.
