Clinical Research Fellow in Infectious Diseases

The University of Southampton (UoS), in partnership with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), is looking to recruit a clinical research fellow in infectious diseases.

The successful candidate will work part time as clinical research fellow supporting Professor Clark in his NIHR funded research programme on rapid diagnostic tests.

The creation of the Faculty of Medicine has enabled us to build upon strong foundations of basic research and clinical translation specialising in Cancer Sciences (CS), Clinical and Experimental Sciences (CES), Human Development and Health (HDH) and Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education (PPM).

Working with colleagues across the University and in the local NHS, we have strengthened our position as a renowned centre for translational research, leading innovative learning and discovery for better health across the life-course.

In this context, we are looking to appoint an outstanding clinical research fellow to support the expansion of infectious diseases research including the assessment of rapid diagnostic tests for infection.

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS)

UHS provides healthcare to 1.9m people living in Southampton and South Hampshire, plus specialist services to >3.7m people in central southern England and the Channel Islands. The Trust is a major centre for teaching and research. We provide a high quality care for patients with severe and complex infection through the infectious diseases and microbiology service.

What we are looking for

A dynamic, self-motivated, clinically trained individual to contribute to and deliver a programme of clinical infectious diseases research.

Applicants must have

MBBS or equivalent, MRCP or equivalent, completion of Core Medical Training (CMT) or equivalent and research experience supported by high quality publications and other research outputs/impacts.

Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with General Medical Council (GMC)

Please note: successful applicants will be appointed to a different salary range (£46,675 to £67,610) if they were at ST3 on or before 2 August 2016.
