- Salary Package: From $99,161 p.a. (HEW Level 6) for a Clinical Trial Coordinator or from $111,643 p.a. (HEW Level 7) for a Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator position, plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.

The Role
We are seeking two experienced Clinical Trials Coordinator to work on clinical research projects in a range of therapeutic areas including phase I trials.
The role involves coordinating complex trials from commencement to close out; ensuring that trial protocols and clinical trial regulations are adhered to and there is an active advocacy for the health and wellbeing of patients undergoing new therapies.
Key responsibilities of the role include working closely with clinical trial investigators, being a patient liaison, and the collection and review of patient clinical data, maintenance of clinical trial databases and liaising with sponsors, as well as the maintenance of GCP compliant clinical trial documentation.
About You
You will be a passionate and empathetic individual with a strong focus on patient care. You will have an established understanding of clinical trials protocols, processes and a solid understanding of the clinical trials regulatory environment in Australia and experience managing patients participating in clinical trials.
For Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator positions, preference will be given to those with more than 3 years of industry sponsored oncology trial experience and those with experience working on early phase trials from start up to close out, and experience mentoring clinical trials staff.
Working closely with investigators, nurses, regulatory associates and other professionals both within the clinical trials team and externally, you will be tactful, resilient, have exceptional time and project management skills, and thrive working as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced environment.
About us
The Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) at Macquarie University. FMHHS also has the Macquarie Medical School, the Macquarie University Private Hospital, and runs patient clinics, labs, imaging and a pharmacy all on campus in close proximity to support clinical trials, and support providing patients with access to state of the art treatments. The CTU undertakes sponsored and investigator initiated Phase I to IV trials across multiple therapeutic areas with multiple Principal Investigators. Our current team of 60 staff (managing around 200 trials) are a close knit inclusive team with a supportive culture that values team work and innovation.

Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medical science, allied health or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience working in clinical trials/ research. Please specify the therapeutic area of the clinical trials (e.g. oncology), the level of patient interaction and experience with performing key trial observations.
- Demonstrated database management skills, both paper-based and electronically, with an ability to navigate through medical records systems.
- An established understanding of clinical trials protocols, ICH-GCP guidelines, ethics and governance and other relevant clinical trial regulatory procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work with patients in a sensitive manner and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of data.
- Experience taking and processing patient samples and venepuncture skills, or a willingness to learn (desirable).
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical.
Selection Criteria: For Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator:
- At least 6 months of experience independently managing complex trials e.g. phase I
- Experience independently managing fast recruiting and high recruiting trials
- Experience independently managing patients with complex and advanced diseases
- Demonstrated contributions to departmental activities e.g. SOP writing, training and mentoring junior colleagues, preparing budgets and contracts or managing HREC correspondence and submissions.
- Experience managing junior staff
