College Laboratory Services Specialist - Electrical and Computer Engineering Laboratory Service Specialist (AA26127)
Job Description
This position exists to initiate, direct, and perform highly technical engineering tasks as required to meet the instructional and research needs of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Technology. In addition, to provide support and expertise to other engineering and technology programs within the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year experience working with electronic technology and/or electronic engineering with emphasis in instrument operation electronic troubleshooting and repair, maintenance and calibration. Education in Electronic Technology and/or Electronic Engineering or related field can substitute as follows ? AAS-6 Months, BS ? 12 Months, MS ? 18 Months.
- Experience in electronic circuit design and associated software tools and in the manufacture of printed circuit boards.
- Experience in handling hazardous materials and emergency response procedures for industrial, electrical and chemical hazards.
- Computer software, hardware and networking background sufficient to develop and implement data acquisition systems and networks.
- Capability to install and maintain a wide variety of specialized software packages.
- Experience with electronic and mechanical CAD software packages.
- Training in and experience with standards and practices in instrument calibration including traceability to the NIST.
Preferred Qualification
Completion of a 4-year program in Electronic Technology and/or Electrical/Electronic Engineering with formal training and experience in instrumentation operation, troubleshooting and repair, maintenance and calibration. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment
Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
