Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Fairmont State University is a comprehensive, student-centered, state-supported institution offering various certificate and degree programs. It educates engaged citizens and is located in Fairmont, West Virginia.

• Teach assigned courses as scheduled and meet all designated class periods.
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, lectures, and assignments.
• Engage students in active learning and facilitate meaningful class discussions.
• Assess student learning through examinations, quizzes, and other assignments.
• Provide timely feedback to students and maintain records of their progress.
• Maintain regular office hours for student consultation and support.
• Submit assessment reporting data and materials and participate in departmental assessment activities, as required by supervisor.
• Post syllabus and maintain gradebook in Blackboard or other official online course delivery platform.

Minimum Required Education

A master's degree or higher in the relevant discipline is required, with prior teaching experience preferred. The degree must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.

Minimum Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level is desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the subject area.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and student-centered learning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Blackboard experience preferred.

Special Conditions

Part-time faculty are appointed only for the current semester. Adjunct employees may not work more than nine credit hours per semester due to Affordable Care Act provisions.
