The Department of Computer Science and Technology is an academic department that encompasses computer science along with many aspects of engineering, technology and mathematics. We have a world-wide reputation for academic research with consistently high research ratings, with around 340 academic staff, research associates, and PhD students actively engaged in research projects within the department. The role holder will develop and deliver a creative, multi-channel communications strategy for the TESSERA project, raising the profile of the research among diverse audiences - including the scientific community, policymakers, industry partners, funders, media, and the general public - and supporting stakeholder engagement, event coordination, and research dissemination.

Communications Coordinator role will support the project's growing profile and expanding collaborations across academia, government, and industry. The role will involve translation of complex technical and scientific outputs into compelling content for specialist and non-specialist audiences, managing the project's digital presence and stakeholder relationships, and contributing to the effective dissemination of research outputs to maximise reach and impact.

TESSERA has developed a globally significant foundation model for Earth observation, processing satellite imagery at 10-metre resolution worldwide, with applications in environmental monitoring, climate science, biodiversity conservation, and land-use analysis.

You will join us with proven experience working in a communications role with a track record of writing and producing content for digital and online channels, ideally educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent level of practical experience. You will be able to demonstrate your excellent communication and posses strong technical literacy: ability to understand and communicate complex scientific, computational, or data-driven concepts to diverse audiences, organisational and IT skills.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2,5 years (30 months) in the first instance.

This is a part-time role for 22 hours per week (0.6 FTE).
